J King Images Blog

I am passionate about my craft, and I love having the opportunity to sit down with people and talk about my journey with photography.

A great portrait doesn't always come easily. Portraits aren't just about looking nice or even the photographer's camera skills, there is a psychology behind getting that perfect shot.

A first impression is everything, and when employers, or potential customers are scrolling through LinkedIn, social media, or company website the first thing that catches their eye is your headshot. Even with an amazing resume, an outdated headshot can cause you to get looked over.

In a world where cutting-edge technology is at our fingertips, what makes professional portraits any different from the photos we can take on our smartphones? This is a question that I hear often, and it's understandable. The camera quality on our everyday devices has gotten so advanced, but there is a big difference between a quick snapshot on your phone and commercial-level quality that can be captured by a professional.

A lot of times when it comes to having your picture made, I have heard all the fears and preconceptions people have about it. Whether you have just made an appointment with me, or are considering it for the future, here's what you can expect when you come in. Each shoot day looks a little different, but the basis of each portrait session remains consistent: I am here to make you feel comfortable, confident, and leave happy with the final product.

At J. King Images, photography has never been just about creating great images. It's always been about people.

Group photos are often the most difficult type of photo to get right. There're more hurdles to jump than just finding a time to get the whole team together, which is not an easy task in itself.

In a world where everyone has a decent camera in their pocket, it's easy to think a quick selfie or cropped photo from an event is "good enough" for your LinkedIn profile, website, or creative portfolio.

WOODSTOCK, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--J King Images celebrated the grand opening of their new photography studio on Thursday March 19th 2026. Most people spend a lot of time thinking about how they'll pose or whether they'll look natural in front of the camera. Very few spend enough time thinking about what they'll wear. The truth is, your clothing choices can make or break a headshot before the shutter ever clicks. Here's what to keep in mind before you open your closet.

This is purely based on my own experiences. Take it with a grain of salt. Everyone's situation is more similar than different. Creatives as a whole do not value their work or suffer from some degree of impostor's syndrome.

I recently met up with Patrick Marcigliano at Starbucks near Marietta Square to talk shop. It's not often I have the opportunity to sit down and talk with another working photographer. Patrick came in after a two hour client shoot in and around downtown Marietta. The first thing I noticed was the medium sized camera bag hung over his shoulder. We ordered our drinks and after a brief round of decision making of where to sit, the conversation began.
